Interviewing high-profile guests
Ready when the moment counts.
When your interview subject is a legend, an executive or a major donor, you usually get one take at their time. Here’s how we make it count.
Set before they arrive
Lights, cameras and audio are tested and ready, so the guest’s time goes to the conversation, not the setup.
Questions that open up stories
We plan prompts that lead to memories and moments, not rehearsed talking points.
A relaxed room
A small, friendly crew and a real conversation help well-known guests forget the camera is there.
A timeless look
Warm, simple backdrops and soft light that will still look right years from now.
Respectful of their time
We keep the schedule tight and wrap when we said we would.
Ready for your edit
Clean, well-labeled raw footage your team or editor can cut right away.
About the shoot
How we made it.
The project
The Rose Bowl Legacy Foundation’s Lasting Legacy series collects memories from people who made history at the Rose Bowl, to help preserve the stadium for future generations. Our job was to film the interview and run it, then deliver the footage for the foundation’s edit.
The set
We kept it warm and simple: a reclaimed-wood backdrop and soft light, so the focus stayed on Coach Gibbs and his story.
The conversation
He started at the beginning: a San Diego State PE major who figured he’d coach junior high, volunteering for Coach Don Coryell for nothing and working as John Madden’s gopher. Then he walked us through the fourth-and-one call late in Super Bowl XVII on the Rose Bowl field, sending John Riggins off tackle and dropping to his knees as Riggins broke free. He closed with why the Rose Bowl matters: the history and the memories of the hundreds of thousands of people who have watched games there.
Off camera
Coach Gibbs was truly one of the nicest people I have ever met. Before we wrapped, he even let me wear his Super Bowl ring.
The result
The footage went to the foundation, which edited it into the Lasting Legacy piece.
